South Carolina abortion measure draws Arizona interest

The Phoenix Business Journal

Anti-abortion advocates in Arizona are eyeing a plan being considered in another state that would require medical facilities and clinics that provide abortions to show ultrasounds of the fetus to prospective patients before they undergo the procedure.

That requirement has been put forward by social conservatives in South Carolina and has sparked some interest in Arizona. It is opposed by those favoring abortion rights.

On Thursday, according to the Associated Press, a South Carolina State Senate subcommittee dropped the ultrasound requirement from the bill, and it is expected to pass the full Senate in that form.
