Judge tosses lawsuit challenging Spanish-language courts

PHOENIX -- A federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of special Maricopa County courts for Spanish speaking and American Indian defendants.

The suit was filed by Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas, who argued the special courts for drunk driving defendants are in essence segregated, with defendants treated differently in violation of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
